Wellbeing
At Kingsway Christian College, wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. We believe every student flourishes when they feel safe, valued and deeply connected to community. Our Christ-centred approach integrates faith, Pastoral Care and wellbeing into a seamless journey of growth, so that each child can develop the resilience, purpose and confidence to thrive.
At Kingsway, wellbeing reflects the biblical concept of shalom, the Hebrew word for wholeness. It is a shared journey for our entire College community, students, staff and families alike. We see wellbeing as the ongoing restoration of wholeness in our relationships with God, with one another and with creation.
Christ-Centred Vision
We believe all people are designed to be in relationship with God. A faith community grounded in Christian truth enhances wellbeing through spiritual practices that nourish the soul. As highlighted in The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt, research shows that spiritual disciplines have a significant positive impact on wellbeing.
We also believe in healthy relationships with others — including the way we relate to ourselves. Our College Values affirm the importance of integrity, service, collaboration and transformation in these relationships.
Our Christian worldview teaches us to care for God’s creation. We see our role not only as stewards of the environment but also as developers of a flourishing world.

Our proactive wellbeing programmes equip students with the skills and resilience they need for life:

Spirituality
At Kingsway, wellbeing is not a stand-alone initiative — it is woven into the fabric of who we are. Through every prayer, partnership and programme, we pursue God’s vision of wholeness: people flourishing in faith, in relationships and purpose.
Faith and Spiritual Formation
Our Christian faith provides the foundation for wellbeing at Kingsway. Guided by our motto, God is Truth, we nurture students in biblical truth, shaping their identity, purpose and discipleship from Kindergarten to Year 12. Daily prayer, worship, chaplaincy support and a rich Christian Studies programme ensure that faith is lived out authentically in every classroom and interaction.
Meet Our Chaplains
At Kingsway, students are encouraged to live with integrity, authenticity and purpose, following the example of Christ. Our two full-time College Chaplains provide a Christ-centred support system for students, families and staff. They are actively involved in College life, from Year 6 trips and lunch programmes to parent prayer meetings, camps, excursions and major events.
Parents, students and staff are always welcome to speak confidentially with our Chaplains — whether seeking guidance, prayer or simply a listening ear.
Linley Pittard
Miss Linley Pittard, our female Chaplain, holds qualifications in Youth Work and Mental Health. With experience across mentoring, outreach chaplaincy and education programmes, Linley is passionate about supporting young people. She believes every person is unique and worthy of love, grace and encouragement in a safe and caring space.
Ashley Smith
Mr Ashley Smith, our male Chaplain, has served as a school chaplain for more than five years, alongside various ministry roles. He is deeply committed to student wellbeing and building genuine connections with families and staff. Ashley believes God has a purpose for every person and sees chaplaincy as vital in helping people discover that purpose.
Pastoral Care
Pastoral Care at Kingsway Christian College is an integral part of every student’s learning journey. Rooted in our Christian faith, our proactive approach encourages students to build lifelong friendships, grow in integrity and make wise choices with Christ at the centre.
Students are supported by caring teachers and leaders at every stage of schooling:
- Early Learning and Primary – Class teachers and Heads of Area
- Secondary – Form teachers and Heads of Students.
These staff maintain regular contact with parents, ensuring open communication and timely support for student wellbeing.
From Primary Buddy Programmes to Secondary Peer Mentoring, students are encouraged to look out for one another and build meaningful connections across year levels.
This culture of care ensures that every student is free to be, encouraged to serve and confident that they belong.

KC Koala
A much-loved member of our community since 2007, KC Koala is Kingsway’s College Mascot. KC Koala helps foster a positive, affirming environment for our younger students — handing out high-fives at Primary Assemblies, celebrating merit awards and cheering on at sports carnivals and Open Nights.
Psychology Support
Since 2022, Kingsway has partnered with Masters & Co to provide an on-campus ‘pop-up’ clinic. Through this initiative, students can access psychological and assessment services designed to promote wellbeing across all ages and abilities.
Each student may access up to four free consultations per year, delivered by a Masters & Co psychologist or registered provisional psychologist. Services are tailored in consultation with College staff and families, ensuring support is personalised and effective.
Reporting concerns
As part of our wellbeing framework, Kingsway uses Stymie — an encrypted, anonymous online tool for reporting concerns. Stymie empowers students to ask for help, whether they are experiencing harm themselves or supporting a friend.
