In December, Etienne Rousseau (Year 12) ended the year on high note when he was crowned the Australian Discus and Shot Put Champion for Boys U18 at the Australian All Schools Championships held in Perth.
A week later, he broke the U17 Western Australian Little Athletics State records for Shot Put (5kg) with a put of 18.76m and Discus with a throw of 57.54m.
He finished ranked first in Australia for Discus for Boys U18 and Shot Put.
On 10 January 2020, he was offered another Training Contract with the Western Australian Institute for Sport (WAIS) recognising his potential and assisting him in his development. This allows Etienne full access to the facilities and services, which include strength and conditioning, training and recovery that WAIS has on offer.
Etienne just returned from the Australian Athletics National High Performance Throws Camp, which was held at the Queensland Academy of Sport, QSAC, Brisbane. He was invited to train with Australian Olympic throwers athletes and coaches.
We wish Etienne all the best as he will try to qualify in Discus for the U20 World Juniors to be held later this year in Nairobi, Kenya.
