Kingsway Christian College congratulates 2019 Year 12 ATAR Visual Art graduates Grace Kim and Daniella Savva, on their early acceptance to study at Australia’s prestigious Whitehouse Institute of Design in Melbourne. The Whitehouse Institute is a leader in higher education for the design and creative industries, that fosters a learning and teaching culture that values scholarship, critical reflection, diversity and equity. Grace and Daniella are looking forward to undertaking the Whitehouse’s two-year Bachelor of Design degree in fashion which will prepare them as fashion designers of the future. Through the degree the talented young artists will learn about advances in fashion innovation, sustainability, leadership and entrepreneurship, which will further advance their design skills for their chosen creative careers.
Grace is excited about her future in fashion and looking forward to all that Whitehouse has in store. “Fashion alone has been a passion and interest of mine ever since I could remember. I see it as a universal language used to express yourself” Grace remarked. “It was in Year 2 where I first found out that there was such a thing as a fashion designer, as I came across the documentary on Valentino Garavani. Ever since then fashion was all I wanted to do... and the Whitehouse Institute of Design seemed the best fit to lay a firm foundation for my future career.” Grace’s mission statement for fashion is to show God’s creation through her own perspective, as she continues to take inspiration from his creation and interpret it through her designs. Her hope through fashion is to share about a sense of God’s power with others.
Equally as excited about a future in fashion, Daniella applied to the Whitehouse Institute to follow in her mother’s footsteps as a fashion designer, and advance her own fashion artistry to one day have her own fashion line.
Daniella remarked “I've always been a very creative child and my goal right now is to do something I love for a career. It's been a difficult, hectic but fun 12 years of schooling to get to this point, but hopefully I'll be the next Versace or something close soon”.
