Raining Medals for Etienne Rousseau

EtienneEtienne Rousseau (Year 11) had a great December returning from the 2018 All Schools National Competition in Cairns with a full set of medals. He won a gold medal in Discus, silver medal in Shot Put and bronze medal in Javelin and came fifth in the Hammer Throw in the boys U16.

At the last Athletics of Western Australia Strive Competition in Perth in December 2018, Etienne bettered a 32-year old Western Australian record in Shot Put boys U16 with a throw of 19.53m with the 4kg. He also threw a PB of 67.24m in the 1kg Discus.

Etienne is ranked number one in Discus and Shot Put in his age group in Australia. Etienne has been included in the inaugural All Australian Junior Athletics Team, which is listed in Athletics Australia’s publication Australian Athlete. He is included in the team for both Discus and Shot Put in Boys U16. In September 2018, he signed a training contract with the Western Australia Institute of Sport (WAIS).Etienne Mens

Etienne then had a memorable Western Australian Athletics State Championships and Club Championship over the weekend of 15th to 17th  February.

He stepped onto the podium for four gold medals for U17 boys in Shot Put, Discus, Hammer and Javelin. He also competed in the Open Men’s and won silver medals in both discus and shot put in the Men’s Open events.

At his club University of Western Australia Little Athletics, he received three gold medals in Shot Put, Discus and Javelin.
