Friday 22nd June, saw the launch of Kingsway Connect. This is a new initiative to connect Alumni with teachers both past and present and Year 11 & 12 students and was the first of a series of events we are planning on hosting.
1997 graduate and current Mayor of Joondalup, Albert Jacob spoke eloquently about the importance of relationships which reflects one of the 6 core values of the school and highlights what Kingsway Connect is trying to achieve, namely, developing relationships.
Past student Justin Gimm showed his dexterity on the electric guitar with an amazing lead solo and past student Alecia Martin gave a bible reading. There were a variety of door prizes which included movie vouchers and Marcus Lewenhoff-Jones presented vouchers for a 3 month gym membership and 4 personal training sessions to two happy winners. Marcus is husband to our Media Teacher, Mrs LJ and dad to alumna, 2017 graduate Ashley.
The Year 11 & 12 Hospitality students kept us well fed and the free coffee van proved very popular. The alumni theme continued with the coffee van with past student Rebecca Kerbey one of two people making the drinks. The other lady, Tracy, was also connected as she was former chaplain, Debra Kerbey’s sister-in-law. This tied in well with the theme of ‘relationships’.
