For the second year in a row, Kingsway students have excelled in Book in a Day. At the 15th annual ‘Write A Book in A Day’ awards ceremony on the 28th of October, our Year 12 team, ‘Percolated Publications,’ came third in the Secondary State division and also won best illustrations with their book ‘Cow About That!?’ With a record  630 teams entering nationwide and 47 teams from WA, this is no mean achievement.

In 2015, when in Year 11, this team won Best Illustrations in the senior Secondary category in WA; Best Book in WA and as full acknowledgement of the outstanding quality of work, calibre of students and team cohesion - the Best Book 2015 – National.

Childhood cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in Australian children. Three children die from cancer each week. The Kids' Cancer Project (TKCP) support some of the best childhood cancer researchers in Australia. Kingsway Christian College has participated in Book in a Day for many years and teams continue to raise sponsorship for TKCP through their annual participation.  $156 000 was raised nationally from the competition in 2016.

The three College participating teams all enjoyed a challenging twelve hour day together, producing an illustrated book and preparing it for publishing. All the books written are also donated to children’s hospitals across Australia: a small act that can bring such joy to hundreds of children.
