Congratulations to Tafara Chamapiwa of Year 3 who represented Australia in an international Maths competition. He was selected by Semas Academy Australia (after passing the national grading exam in July) to represent Australia in the international Arithmetic competition in Singapore which was held on the 2nd of October.
Team Australia had a total of seventeen students from across Australia. Tafara rose to the occasion as one of the five students from Australia that won the top champion prize. The competition is based on the Japanese Soroban/ abacus maths. He can calculate Maths problems for his Soroban level accurately at a lightning speed.
Tafara returned to school and was able to show his excited classmates and teacher his trophy and certificate.
