Write a Book in a Day began in 1985 by the Katharine Susannah Prichard Writers' Centre, the oldest writers' centre of its kind in Australia. The Centre encourages and facilitates writers' readings, workshops, writers in residence and other services, all designed to help and encourage writers at all levels of the craft. In 2015,there were 529 teams who entered the event.
The three particpating Kingsway teams also managed to raise $1753.50 for the Kids' Cancer Project through sponsorship and generous donations from the community. Each of the three teams spent twelve hours palnning, writing, illustrating and editing their books
