The Open Night this year was a special event to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the College and proved to be a night offering something for everyone. There was an outpouring of community spirit and excellence in everything from the open air music performances to the classroom displays. Many College families enjoyed the fun-filled event as well as others from outside our community visiting to get a feel of what Kingsway has to offer.
In the Primary school each classroom was open with displays of the students’ work and an outstanding array of art works. In the Secondary school each faculty put on a display with a highlight with the crowds being the Media department offering green screen technology where visitors could make appearances as Superman and other characters. The Science experiments conducted by our own students and staff were another huge hit.
There was plenty on offer on the oval with bouncy castles, climbing walls, gladiator duel and balloons as well as various food vans offering tasty treats. The oval was filled with excited chatter and all age groups mingling to create a real buzz. Many people living in the Darch area were attracted by the large crowd and cars and came to have a wander.
A display of ‘then and now’ photos created a lot of interest in the gym with a number of alumni who are now parents or prospective parents finding old photos of themselves and their classmates. The photos clearly illustrated what a long way the College has come over 30 years and how God has blessed us as we have grown from small beginnings with the vision of four families to a thriving school with great facilities and enrolment of over thirteen hundred. The evening was truly an opportunity to give thanks and reflect on the exciting changes and growth over the years.
