Primary Multicultural Day

  • Dates: 06 Nov, 2012 – 07 Jan, 2013

With students born in over forty countries at Kingsway Christian College, the school prides itself on being truly multicultural. Our Multicultural Day is an annual event celebrated with great gusto in Term 2 in the Primary school. It gives staff and students the opportunity to celebrate what makes each Australian unique and to share what we have in common. It is also about community participation, inclusiveness and respect – celebrating the different cultures that make Australia a great place to live.

Each year teachers decorate their classrooms to represent a different nation and the students are asked to dress up to represent their own cultural background. During the course of the day students then visit each classroom with a passport to be stamped and get to hear about other countries of the world and cultures and sometimes sample their foods as well as play games, learn folk dances and participate in many other activities. Great fun is had by all involved whilst broadening their general knowledge at the same time. Countries "visited" by the students in 2012 included Australia, France, Germany, Hawaii, Indonesia, Italy, Ireland, Japan, Mauritius, Mexico, Scotland and South Africa.
