Biology Student Wins Glorious Opportunity at Olympiad Summer School

by Alison Young | Nov 08, 2017

We are very pleased to announce that our Year 11 student Mikala Bower has achieved a spectacular result in the 2017 Australian Science Olympiad which landed her a prestigious opportunity to attend the Australian Olympiad Summer School at the Australian National University of Canberra from 5 – 21 January 2018. Mikala also won herself the sponsorship of Rotary Club of Wanneroo which will cover the expenses for her two-week stay in Canberra.

At the residential summer school, Mikala will be joining a team of hand-picked Secondary students from all over Australia to attend an accelerated learning program in Biology. The workload is  rather intense as this programme will cover the equivalent of a first-year university course over a short period. Mikala looks forward to this challenging but worthwhile experience of stretching herself and achieving things beyond anyone’s imagination. Students attending this summer school also stand a good possibility of being selected to represent Australia at the 2018 International Science Olympiad.

Congratulations, Mikala and all the best for the exciting endeavour ahead!
