Kingsway Graduate Shines on Golf Scholarship

2016 College graduate Matt Caulfield is based in Iowa at Mount Mercy University playing for the Mustangs. Matt was part of Kingsway Christian College’s Golf Academy for the majority of his high schooling after making the move here to the West from Tasmania. He was awarded the Academy’s “Golfer of the Year” award for four years running.

In early September 2017, Matt came 4th in a 36-hole event and was the highest ranked Mount Mercy University (MMU) player from the 10 MMU players in a field of over 80 competitors.  Matt was originally on the B team for this event.  His team finished 2nd overall out of all the competing Universities.  Matt shot 69 and 76 to finish +1 over par for the event.

Due to Matt’s performance, late on the Sunday afternoon he was selected by his coach to join the A team (Varsity Team – top 5 players from MMU) who travelled 3.5 hours Milwaukee to take part in a 54-hole event on Monday and Tuesday.  Matt scored 74, 75 & 74 to finish 12th overall in a field of over 50 players and was the 2nd highest ranked MMU player.
It has been a great start to his adventure and breaking into the Varsity team so early on has been a huge achievement.
Matt is currently the #2 ranked MMU player for this new season.
