Tuesday 1st August, saw the much-anticipated opening of our new nine hundred seat Auditorium. This event was booked out well in advance and commenced with parents, staff, past and present board members and representatives from the project team enjoying refreshments prior to the start of formal proceedings.
College Principal Peter Burton introduced the Kingsway Business and Professional Network that provides opportunities for past and present parents of the College and Alumni to network as professional and business people for mutual support and invest time and expertise back into the College. He also spoke about our Scholarship and Mentoring, which provides young people at risk the opportunity for a high quality education and a mentor to assist in their personal development
Musical items featuring the Primary Choir, Swing Band and Senior Vocal Ensemble added great atmosphere to the event and were enthusiastically received by the audience. These pieces highlighted our talented students as well as the state of the art digital sound studio.
Guest speaker, Reverend Tim Costello of World Vision Australia gave an inspiring talk on ‘The Importance of Relationships’, which emphasised the key role of relationships in the health of our society. He also unveiled the plaque and officially opened the building.
Various guests who had played key roles in the development of the Auditorium were honoured with a gift and then Board Chair, Mrs Rebecca Coghill, ended the formal part of the programme with a closing prayer.
Afterwards everyone enjoyed mingling in the foyer enjoying delicious hot snacks and the opportunity to chat as well as admire the student artworks on display.
