United Nations International Women’s Day Breakfast

The Kingsway Year 12 Politics and Law girls attended the annual United Nations International Women’s day Breakfast at the Perth Convention Centre on the 9th of March. At the event the girls had privilege of meeting Minister Liza Harvey Deputy Premier; Minister for Police; Road Safety; Training and Workforce Development; Women's Interests.
The speaker at this year’s function was Sister Lorraine Garasu from Papua New Guinea. Sister Lorraine is the head of the Nazareth Centre for Rehabilitation in Bougainville, Papua New Guinea, and a courageous counsellor and advocate.  The Centre works to reduce violence against women by providing integrated support services to women and children and by building non-violent communities, including engaging men and boys through education to prevent and reduce ongoing violence. She gave the audience an insight into the challenges faced by the women in her country.
