Kingsway's Golfing Stars

by Alison Young | Dec 02, 2014

In 2014 Kingsway has had over sixty members in its Secondary Golf Academy and over fifty in the Primary Golf Academy. The year has seen a number of students  competing strongly and we are proud to announce details of the following rising stars:

  • Jennifer Herbst of Year 8 was selected as part of the Schoolgirl's Golf Squad and also as part of a six member schoolgirl team that represented Western Australia in Toowoomba, Queensland in August 2014. Jennifer had a great competition shooting a PB on Day One securing third place in the nett competition.
  • The School Sport WA Secondary Schools Golf Championship was won by Kingsway in 20014 with Daniel Van Heerden of Year 11 overall Nett winner and School Sport WA Primary Schools Golf Championship female champion for her age group was Courteney Steyn of Year 6
  • Matt Caulfield of Year 10 has had a great year with top 10 finishes in various junior competitions such as the Gosnells Junior Open and the Golf WA Joondalup Junior Open where he was also awarded the Nett Runner-Up Award. Matt is steadily working his handicap in the right direction, nearly hitting the magical “0” or “+” mark in his dream of achieving a career playing golf and perhaps playing in the US whilst studying after his time here at Kingsway.
  • Sho Momiyama of Year 11 is one of our students who again is doing very well this year with his handicap only just sitting ever so slightly north of “0”. Sho is an International student from Japan, who is also working hard in his pursuit of a career playing golf and possibly studying and playing in the US in the next couple of years. He is doing great things in his pennant team at Yokine and is consistently placed well in competitions throughout the year.
