Kingsway Christian College congratulates Year 11 ATAR Visual Art student Bianca van der Spuy and Year 10 Visual Art students Eva Bantiles, Talitha Moran and Tyler Mackenzie on being chosen as finalists in the renowned 2016 WA Black Swan Prize for Portraiture Youth Award exhibition. The Black Swan Prize for Youth Portraiture was founded by ARTrinsic Inc. in 2007. It has since continued to grow in its prominence and popularity in education and art circles of the state.
The students’ creative self-portrait drawings and portrait oil paintings were featured alongside many other young artists’ works from W.A. in Tower 1 of Brookfield Place on St Georges Terrace, from the 3rd – 21st of October. The exhibition’s exciting award evening held on Wednesday the 19th of October was a fantastic opportunity for Kingsway’s Visual Art students to see the fruits of their labours appreciated by Perth’s public. Hosted by W.A.’s celebrity ‘Famous Sharon’ the night culminated in $3,000 in prizes being awarded to the youth category winners.
The College was delighted to have our students work comprising four out of the total forty four art works selected.
