Alexia Wins Trip to New Caledonia

Alexia proudly received the top prize which was a trip to New Caledonia with expenses paid by the Alliance Francaise. This is the second year running that Alexia has taken the top prize, as in 2011 she won the equivalent award for Year 10 which was a four week exchange trip to Reunion Island and the student she stayed with is coming to WA shortly on a reciprocal exchange visit. Alexia will visit New Caledonia for two weeks in 2013 – a shorter trip than last year because of the academic commitments of Year 12.

College Principal Peter Burton said “We are all delighted with Alexia’s success which is a tribute to her hard work and the high standards of the College’s French programme.

In August 2012 almost 1500 students from Year 10 to 12 took part in the Alliance Francaise exams. Kingsway Christian College student Alexia Muscara of Year 11 was selected as one of top twenty students in the state and went for an oral unrehearsed interview. She then made the top ten and was in the running for a major prize to be announced at the Alliance Francaise in Nedlands in November.

On Friday the 9th of November students gathered at the award Night at the Alliance Francaise. Speeches were delivered by the President of the Alliance Francaise, French Consul, Curriculum Council delegate and various other representatives and sponsors, who praised the students’ efforts, sharing with them the importance of learning a language.
