This year our Senior Girls’ Basketball team competed in the “All School’s Zone” of the School Sport WA Basketball Championships.
We had another amazing year of competition, making it to yet another Grand Final appearance. Making this result even more special was the fact that we played most of the year with only five girls due to injury.
hroughout the Term 1 and Term 2 season our team of: Sabrina Siani(12), Imogen van der Merwe(12), Francina Muparutsu(12), Kasey Elliott(11), Akim Lual(11) and Simbi Muparutsu(10) played and defeated Mercy College, Churchlands Senior High School and Shenton College.
We then progressed into the knock out rounds of the finals series playing and defeating Prendiville College, then Mater Dei College and finally St Marks College. After yet another tough win with only five girls playing throughout the playoffs, we earnt ourselves a shot in the grand final game.
We were scheduled to play Kennedy Baptist College in the grand final and a big thanks to Ashley Lewenhoff-Jones (11) and Savannah Coleman (8) who stepped up into the team to help with numbers and did a great job. We were defeated in the final by a very experienced team with majority of the girls playing WABL for various rep. clubs.
